Vismaya Mohanlal’s Martial Arts Skills Inject Life Into a Typical Revenge Thriller

Fox in morning light

S. R. Praveen | The Hindu

Sun, August 16 2026

Despite its familiar tropes and a forgettable cameo from Mohanlal, ‘Thudakkam’ is watchable thanks to debutant Vismaya Mohanlal’s commanding action performance

Rarely have we seen an actor’s name attached to the film’s name. The CBFC certificate for Thudakkam, directed by Judy Anthany Joseph, displays the film’s name as ‘Vismaya Mohanlal’s Thudakkam’, heralding the debut film of actor Mohanlal’s daughter. In first viewing, Thudakkam also feels like the most dated of these films, relying on a gratingly obvious amount of self-seriousness, as though it’s the first ever film to say what it’s trying to.
